Our trips never fail to surprise. We discovered an interesting smell in our aisle headed to our layover in Instanbul on our way to Greece. I was previously warned by a coworker that flights on foreign carriers tend to have a distinct "foreign smell". But I started to wonder why the floor at our feet was wet. And then it hit me...the district putrid smell of throw up!!
It seemed like someone had previously thrown up in our aisle where we were sitting. It appeared clean, but the wet floor and smell confirmed what had probably taken place on the previous flight.
As soon as we could, we complained and asked for different seats. The couple in front of us could smell it too. The women even pulled out her perfume bottle and offered to spray the floor. But the strong smell eventually beat the perfume over and returned.
After everyone was seated the staff found us new seats next to an exit door with lots of leg room. It was a fine reward after our last seats.
The rest of the flight was long but went well. They served us an amazing dinner of salmon, wine, cherry sour juice and a couple sides. A couple hours later they also served us breakfast. I loved the little side of feta cheese, cucumber, tomato and black olives.
